Job summary

Warden Tyne Solutions Ltd is actively seeking an experienced Freelance Mechanical Project Manager for a major hyperscale data centre development in the North East. You will coordinate mechanical installation packages, drive subcontractor progress and ensure plant, pipework and water services are installed to programme.

The role requires strong planning, site coordination with engineers and suppliers, and a proactive approach to issue resolution to keep the project on track for handover.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager in an MEP/building services environment.
• Strong data centre experience is essential.
• Ability to coordinate plant, pipework and water services to programme.
• Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and construction schedules.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Package Delivery: manage day-to-day execution of mechanical installation works to safety, quality and programme.
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, supervision and installation teams to maintain progress.
• Plan and coordinate work areas, priorities and labour for a smooth workflow across the package.
• Track progress, identify constraints and agree actions to maintain milestones.
• Coordinate installation of mechanical plant and cooling infrastructure (chillers, pumps, valves).
• Monitor pipework installation and integration with other services.
• Oversee potable water, drainage and related mechanical services within the package.
• Resolve drawing discrepancies and technical queries with engineers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with electrical and other package leads to coordinate interfaces.
• Forecast materials and monitor deliveries to prevent procurement risks.
• Ensure QA, testing and handover documentation are completed.
