Job summary

IC Resources seeks a senior engineering leader in the space sector to drive mechanical engineering excellence across high‑reliability hardware. You will lead the mechanical engineering team, shape technical strategy, and stay hands-on with design and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems.

You will collaborate with Project Managers and engineering leads to deliver high‑quality projects, develop the capability roadmap, and mentor engineers to grow their skills in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading mechanical engineering teams in high‑reliability environments.
• Hands-on design, analysis and troubleshooting of electro‑mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of mechanisms and components (bearings, actuators, transmissions, feedback devices).

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop mechanical engineering teams, supporting technical excellence and professional growth.
• Oversee work packages, engineering performance, technical risks and resource planning.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering Leads and technical specialists to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
• Develop the mechanical engineering capability roadmap, including future skills and product development requirements.
• Provide technical support on complex mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware issues when required.
• Strong experience in spacecraft or another high-reliability engineering environment.
• A solid mechanical engineering background, including mechanical design, stress-critical components, precision tolerancing, materials and manufacturing methods.
• Experience working with complex electro-mechanical hardware and diagnosing issues across component interfaces and wider systems.
• Knowledge of mechanisms and components such as bearings, actuators, transmissions and feedback devices.
• Proven leadership and people management experience, with a genuine interest in developing others.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and delivery skills.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar, ANSYS and MATLAB would be advantageous.
