Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer II to lead end-to-end design of complex electronics for space and aerospace systems. You will guide concept to production, owning architecture, schematic and layout while mentoring engineers in a startup, high‑reliability environment.

You will collaborate with software and mechanical teams, conduct rigorous analyses, and present designs to customers and executives. This role emphasizes hands‑on work and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or higher from an accredited university.
• Minimum 6 years in board-level electronics design, analysis and test.
• Experience designing high-reliability electronics for space/defense.
• Ownership of design phase: architecture, trade studies and detailed design.
• Delivered hardware products through production and deployment.
• Expertise in PCB layout and HDI stackups per IPC standards.
• Experience using SI/EM tools like SIwave, Hyperlynx, etc.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration with software and mechanical.

Responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end design of complex electronics modules and systems—from concept to production.
• Lead teams of hardware engineers and drive multiple modules.
• Provide SME support for hardware development across the company.
• Develop hardware architecture and write system requirements.
• Perform schematic design for complex boards and passive support.
• Layout complex boards in Altium Designer, coordinating with PCB Drafter.
• Conduct worst‑case, signal integrity and power integrity analyses.
• Develop bring‑up and verification plans for new hardware and systems.
• Lead bring‑up and verification testing with a team; ensure production readiness.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers to build expertise and growth.
• Collaborate with software and mechanical teams to streamline development.
