Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the MEICA design team within its growing UK water business. You will manage multi-billion-pound capital programmes, from concept to delivery, across water and wastewater schemes, including both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.

You will drive design quality, collaborate with civil, electrical and process engineers, manage budgets and schedules, and engage with clients to secure safe, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it with a recognised institution.
• Experience in water and/or wastewater industries.
• Proven expertise in pump station design, piping design, hydraulics, and producing/approving reports, drawings, and specs.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design team for MEICA projects in water/wastewater.
• Develop feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs, and provide construction support.
• Prepare and review pumping and air blower system designs and associated calculations.
• Prepare and review design drawings, select mechanical plant, specifications & datasheets.
• Review 3D models and produce layouts, datasheets and P&IDs.
