Job summary

AECOM’s Water team seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to lead delivery on major water and wastewater projects across the UK, including capital programmes and frameworks. You will shape technical direction, mentor junior staff and ensure designs meet regulatory standards.

The role offers hybrid working options and opportunities to influence projects from feasibility through to detailed design, collaborating with clients like Thames Water and Severn Trent Water.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Experience working within the water sector.
• Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant institution e.g. ICE, CIWEM, or approaching chartered status.
• Experience of undertaking engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations and/or economic appraisals.
• Experience in outline and detailed design, in wastewater or water treatment, flood risk management or drainage schemes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, hydraulic modellers, scientists and specialists to deliver projects UK-wide and overseas, liaising with clients on scope, price proposals and progress.
• Deliver feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs, reports and technical specifications.
• Undertake line management for junior staff, providing guidance and completing performance evaluations.
• Ensure design compliance with standards and regulations and provide technical input for interdisciplinary studies.
