Job summary

West Thurrock is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering for a major chemical manufacturing site. You will oversee piping, vessels and rotating equipment, driving reliability and performance improvements across the plant.

The role requires experience in COMAH or similar high-hazard environments, capital-project delivery, and strong cross-functional collaboration with maintenance and operations. On-site, Monday–Friday, with 25 days leave and holidays.

Qualifications

• Senior mechanical engineer with experience in chemical manufacturing or similar high-hazard environments.
• Proven ability to lead mechanical integrity, reliability engineering and large capital projects.
• Experience in delivering multimillion-pound projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering for the site, covering piping, vessels, pumps and heat exchangers.
• Support design, installation and commissioning of new equipment and projects.
• Drive plant reliability, energy efficiency and maintenance best practices.
