Job summary

NUVIA UK in Glasgow is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering safety-critical engineering support across regulated facilities. You will author substantiation documents, manage design changes, and present to governance and safety review panels.

Role requires experience with industrial plant, lifting equipment, and compliance with UK/EU standards. Hybrid working in Scotland with competitive benefits and career development within a nuclear/defence context.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience.
• Nuclear introductory course within 6 months of joining (for non-nuclear background).
• Experience with lifting equipment, including EOT cranes and other handling systems.
• Knowledge of British and European design standards and working practices.

Responsibilities

• Author, develop, assess, maintain, and manage engineering design substantiation documentation for infrastructure, facilities, and assets within a regulated environment.
• Prepare, evaluate, and manage engineering design changes, modifications, and concessions.
• Present technical submissions and design substantiation documentation to governance, assurance, and safety review panels.
• Develop and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing (EIMT) schedules and procedures.
• Produce and assess Periodic Reviews of Safety and associated engineering assurance documentation.
• Provide technical advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop scopes of work for Independent Technical Assessments (ITA) and Independent Peer Reviews (IPR).
• Apply broad and specialist engineering knowledge to support technologies.
• Apply engineering principles to design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of systems in high-hazard environments.
• Produce robust technical justifications to support modifications and approvals.
• Review and assess technical reports, studies, and safety-related submissions.
