Job summary

BRUSH Group’s RYBKA arm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design across multiple projects within the built environment. You will mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and ensure technical excellence from briefing to handover.

The role requires chartered status or equivalent experience, with strong knowledge of building regulations, energy standards, and renewable technologies. Hybrid working is available across Scotland.

Qualifications

• Honours / master’s degree in engineering, Architecture, or related field or demonstrable equivalent professional experience.
• Chartered status (CEng, MCIBSE, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience in Engineer Consultancy and leading complex projects with client relationships.
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting staff development.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, energy standards, and certification schemes.
• Understanding of renewable energy systems and low-carbon technologies.
• Knowledge of sustainable MEP systems (heat pumps, geothermal, solar PV, energy storage).
• Understanding of building automation, smart building technologies, and IoT integration.
• Knowledge of procurement processes in public and private sectors.
• Engineering design and project delivery processes; excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships at all levels.
• Proficiency in technical software; ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of whole life and embodied carbon analysis.
• Experience managing business unit P&L and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design and coordinate with wider MEP disciplines across multiple projects.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for mechanical systems and support coordination with electrical and public health disciplines.
• Support client engagement and maintain positive working relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
• Support business development activities including technical input to bids and proposals; ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation; actively manage profitability.
• Collaborate with BRUSH Group BIM and Sustainability Teams.
• Mentor engineers and support staff development; participate in cross‑party initiatives.
• Continually develop knowledge to stay current with emerging technologies and regulatory changes.
