Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy’s building services team. You will work on technically challenging projects across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public sector developments.

You will lead design delivery, mentor junior engineers, and develop strong client relationships while delivering sustainable, low-carbon solutions within a collaborative engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–4 years of post-qualification experience in building services design.
• Experience delivering mechanical design in a consultancy.
• Knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance.
• Experience using Revit, Relux or Dialux, Amtech or equivalent.
• Understanding of sustainable design and renewable technologies.
• Experience with BREEAM is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building services design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design delivery on selected projects.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage mechanical design elements from concept through to completion.
• Produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Carry out engineering calculations and support technical reviews.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers and developing strong client relationships within a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance
• Experience using design software such as:
  • Revit
  • Relux / Dialux
  • Amtech or equivalent engineering software
• Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies
• Experience working with BREEAM requirements would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
• CIBSE / IMechE membership
• Experience working on complex projects across multiple sectors
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Understanding of electrical engineering principles would be beneficial
