Job summary

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is seeking a Senior/Associate Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and verification across diverse building services projects in Manchester.

You will deliver from feasibility through to construction, coordinating with electrical engineering colleagues and other disciplines while mentoring junior engineers. A proactive delivery focus and strong technical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering is required.
• Working towards professional registration (CIBSE or IMechE) is preferred.
• Strong technical skills with Revit, AutoCAD and IES are beneficial.
• Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical engineering design for building services projects, including heating, ventilation, cooling, and domestic water systems; develop specifications.
• Prepare and check calculations, drawings and specifications for concept to technical design stages.
• Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines.
• Work with project leads and engineers to ensure technical compliance and quality assurance.
• Support development of design packages for tender and construction; respond to contractor queries.
• Use tools such as IES, AutoCAD and Revit to develop design outputs; carry out site surveys.
