Job summary

United Infrastructure Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the mechanical engineering activities for a Design & Build Natural Gas Compressor Station project. You will manage concept through handover, ensuring safe design, procurement, construction and commissioning.

The role requires chartered status or active toward chartership, 10+ years in mechanical engineering for gas infra, and strong ability to coordinate interfaces across disciplines, review PFDs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering within design and project management
• Natural Gas Infrastructure
• Compressor Stations (desirable)
• Gas Transmission Networks
• Energy Infrastructure
• Oil & Gas Facilities
• Experience delivering EPC or Design & Build projects.
• Strong understanding of rotating equipment and compressor systems.
• Knowledge of pressure systems and gas process facilities.
• Familiarity with relevant UK and international engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities during all project phases.
• Review and approve mechanical design deliverables including compressor packages, gas process systems, pressure vessels, piping, fuel gas, cooling, vent and blowdown, and fire protection systems.
• Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, control, and process disciplines.
• Provide technical leadership during procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Monitor design progress, identify risks and mitigations, and support contractor and vendor management.
• Coordinate FATs and vendor inspections; review vendor documentation for compliance.
• Support site construction teams with technical input and change management.
• Assist in commissioning and handover activities and ensure safety and quality are maintained.
