Job summary

Babcock International Group in Plymouth, Devon, invites applications for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site. You will lead multidisciplinary mechanical handling and dockside design packages, drive safe and high‑quality solutions, and mentor engineers across the project lifecycle.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll own engineering work from concept to delivery, work within a regulated environment, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering mechanical and electrical integration across multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience leading design reviews and engineering delivery through full lifecycle.
• Experience in highly regulated industries such as defence, nuclear, marine, infrastructure or heavy engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary mechanical handling and dockside engineering design packages.
• Manage technical requirements, risks, interfaces and engineering deliverables through the project lifecycle.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications and documentation for fitness for purpose.
• Drive design reviews, optioneering activities and engineering best practice.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate suppliers, stakeholders and project teams to achieve outcomes.
