Job summary

Babcock International Group is seeking a Principal Civil Structural Engineer at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, with hybrid working options.

You will lead civil and structural design across major infrastructure programmes, provide technical leadership, oversee design packages, and ensure safe, high-quality solutions for defence operations. This is a full-time, permanent role with a 35-hour workweek and on-site presence three days a week.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or ability to achieve registration.
• Membership of engineering institution desirable.
• Knowledge of seismic design standards and nuclear safety-related structures advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design packages to scope, quality, schedule and cost.
• Manage technical aspects from identification to handover.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement and incorporate requirements into solutions.
• Drive planning, design reviews and engineering assurance on complex projects.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, risk and governance requirements.
