Job summary

McGregor Boyall is seeking a Modular Delivery Engineer in Greater London to support development and delivery of modular MEP solutions across pre-construction and live projects.

You'll contribute to modular strategy, technical coordination, buildability, cost, sustainability and manufacturing, working with design, estimating, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure efficient, practical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (ME or EE) is required.
• Experience with modular construction, prefabrication, DfMA or offsite manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of MEP, structural and modular interfaces.
• Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Ability to identify opportunities to rationalise and optimise MEP solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Are you a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with experience in modular construction, prefabrication or DfMA?

We’re looking for a Modular Delivery Engineer to join a growing technical team, supporting the development and delivery of modular MEP solutions across both pre-construction and live projects.

This is an opportunity to take your engineering experience beyond traditional design, working across modular strategy, technical coordination, buildability, cost, sustainability and manufacturing.

The Role

As a Modular Delivery Engineer, you’ll work across multiple projects, providing technical input from the early bid stage through to project delivery.

You’ll review designs, identify opportunities for modularisation, develop technical solutions and work closely with engineering, design, estimating, manufacturing and project teams to ensure solutions are efficient, practical and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to pre-construction and bid teams
• Review drawings, specifications, reports and project information to identify modular opportunities
• Develop and propose modular MEP strategies based on project requirements and constraints
• Prepare and manage RFIs to clarify technical requirements
• Review architectural, structural and MEP designs to identify opportunities for modular installation
• Review and provide technical input into modular framework designs
• Support the development of technical submissions for project approvals and compliance
• Prepare structural analysis information packs to support design validation
• Review structural analysis outputs and provide technical comments
• Consider steelwork sizing, material availability, manufacturing and cost implications
• Review turnkey package designs against DfMA and modular delivery principles
• Support cost development and modular strategy pricing alongside estimating teams
• Manage technical interfaces between design, manufacture and installation
• Support the review of modular installations against structural verification requirements
• Capture and implement project lessons learned
• Maintain clear communication across multidisciplinary project teams

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have:

• A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification and relevant industry experience
• Experience working within modular construction, prefabrication, DfMA or offsite manufacturing
• Strong understanding of MEP, structural and modular interfaces
• Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation
• Ability to identify opportunities to rationalise, optimise and improve MEP solutions
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to challenge conventional design approaches and develop practical solutions
• Commercial awareness, including consideration of cost, materials and buildability
• Understanding of sustainability considerations within engineering and construction
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to project deadlines
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider team

Technical Experience

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

• Navisworks
• Revizto or other model review platforms
• Microsoft Office
• Document management platforms such as Aconex, Asite or similar
• Structural analysis information and verification processes
