Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design on live, data centre and high-tech projects across London, Birmingham or Dublin. You will guide concepts through construction and commissioning, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires chartered status or progression toward CEng, strong knowledge of building services and standards, and hands-on design using Revit MEP, AutoCAD and energy modelling.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in mechanical building services engineering.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• CEng or working towards it.
• Proven experience leading mechanical design on building projects across sectors such as data centres, healthcare, life sciences or commercial.
• Strong knowledge of CIBSE, ASHRAE, IS, BS and EN standards.
• Confident, consultative and organised, able to manage priorities across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design on live projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Work across data centres, life sciences, healthcare and pharmaceutical facilities.
• Champion design standards and low-carbon solutions; be the go-to mechanical expert on projects.
• Coach graduate and junior engineers while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Act as the key mechanical liaison with clients, architects, project managers and contractors; help define project scope from day one.
• HVAC, chilled water, heating, ventilation, domestic water and fire protection design; load calculations, equipment selection, tender packages and design reports.
• Work with Revit MEP, AutoCAD and IES or Hevacomp; exposure to energy modelling and low carbon technologies.
• Support towards Chartership (CEng) progression.
