Job summary

Cellular Origins Ltd. seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own and drive the mechanical design of critical modules in our robotic manufacturing platform.

You will turn early concepts into stable, manufacturable designs and perform tolerance analyses to ensure repeatable performance. You will collaborate with mechanical, robotics, software, systems and biology teams, applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to build reliable systems that operate in demanding

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent with strong industrial experience.
• Hands-on design of precision devices from microns to millimetres.
• Proven experience delivering complex electromechanical products into manufacture.
• Experience in cross-functional / cross-disciplinary teams.
• Use of tolerance analyses, FEA and motor calculations to guide design decisions.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks, and good material/process knowledge.
• Proven track record of making designs reliable, not just functional.
• Ability to work collaboratively and make sound decisions with incomplete information.

Responsibilities

• Own the detailed mechanical design of critical modules within our robotic manufacturing platform.
• Turn early concepts and prototypes into stable, manufacturable designs that perform consistently.
• Build detailed tolerance analyses and use analytical methods to improve performance.
• Make thoughtful material, manufacturing method and component design decisions.
• Work hands-on with prototypes and hardware to learn and feed back improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to solve system-level challenges.
• Identify risks early and guide designs from inception to robust operation.
• Share judgement, methods and experience to raise design standards across the team.
