Job summary

CMR Surgical in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of complex mechanical products for the Versius robotic system. You will own major work packages from concept to manufacture, combining hands-on design with sound engineering judgement.

You will join the Mechanical Engineering Team in the System Development department, contributing to electromechanical subsystems and surgical instruments for precision medical devices in a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering and hands-on experience in designing mechanical products.
• Proven ability to deliver designs to manufacture with robust engineering judgment.
• Strong SolidWorks design skills including surface and solid modelling.
• Experience creating detailed drawings for machining, sheet metal and injection moulding.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of product enhancements and new products.
• Own significant design work packages from concept to verification and release.
• Design components and assemblies using SolidWorks with surface/solid modelling.
• Develop manufacturable solutions for machining, sheet metal, and injection moulding.
• Build and test prototypes and test fixtures; refine designs accordingly.
• Produce and review mechanical drawings and configuration documentation to high standards.
• Write technical reports to support development, verification and design reviews.
• Investigate issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
