Job summary

Hunter Selection are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead and manage a growing design team in Bridgend, UK. You will own the design and development of mechanical equipment from concept through prototype, testing and production, ensuring delivery to quality, cost and schedule.

You will produce high-quality 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor, support manufacturing and procurement, mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in mechanical product design within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience leading engineering projects from concept to production.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and 3D CAD.
• Experience producing manufacturing drawings, BOMs and documentation.
• Experience with fabrication, machining, welding and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing ECRs and engineering document control.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of equipment from concept through prototype, testing and production.
• Take technical ownership of engineering projects ensuring quality, cost and schedule.
• Produce and review 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and BOMs using Inventor.
• Support Manufacturing, Production, Purchasing and Quality with day-to-day activities.
• Investigate manufacturing issues and implement robust solutions.
• Lead ECRs, updating drawings, BOMs and related documentation.
• Maintain engineering data and revision control in Autodesk Vault.
• Carry out engineering calculations and support FEA where required.
• Liaise with suppliers on technical issues and manufacturing methods.
• Support prototype builds, product validation and testing.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and manufacturability improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and drive engineering standard improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
