Job summary

Williams Racing is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead hydraulic and pneumatic system design within the Powertrain Hydraulics group. The role focuses on hydraulic, pneumatic, and gearbox systems, with ownership from concept through prototype, testing, and race deployment.

You will collaborate across departments, apply fundamentals in fluids and materials, and leverage CAD (Siemens NX preferred) to deliver world-class performance under tight packaging constraints.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic system design.
• Hands-on expertise in gearbox or powertrain hydraulic systems.
• Strong grasp of materials, stress, and fluid mechanics.
• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace engineering.
• Fluent in CAD; Siemens NX experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept, design, and detailing of hydraulic, pneumatic components and assemblies.
• Design and integrate gearbox hydraulic systems, including actuation and control circuits.
• Perform stress, flow, and sizing calculations with documentation.
• Conduct design reviews with Principal Engineer and Head of Department.
• Take end-to-end ownership from design to testing and on-car validation.
• Support design checking and peer reviews to meet specs and benchmarks.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Mentor junior engineers in fluid system design and integration best practices.
