Job summary

Williams Racing seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead hydraulic and pneumatic systems across powertrain and chassis, owning concepts through to on-car validation. You will design gearbox hydraulics, perform rigorous analysis, and collaborate across departments to ensure peak performance and reliability.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive innovation in fluid systems, and deliver robust documentation while packaging components within tight spaces for race-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic system design.
• Background in gearbox or powertrain hydraulic systems.
• Experience packaging components within tight spaces.
• Fluent CAD skills, preferably Siemens NX; others acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept, design, and detailing of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components across powertrain and chassis.
• Design and integrate gearbox hydraulic systems including actuation and control.
• Perform stress, flow, and sizing calculations with documentation.
• Conduct design reviews with Principal Engineer and Head of Department.
• Own projects end-to-end from design to testing and on-car validation.
• Support design checking and peer reviews; drive innovation and improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and share fluid system design best practices.
