Job summary

Volantes Technical Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a leading helicopter manufacturer for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Oxford. You will lead the mechanical design team, translating concepts into certified, manufacturable designs while mentoring engineers and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role covers integration, testing support and design for manufacture within a dynamic helicopter program.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent with extensive experience in mechanical systems design and detailed engineering.
• Experience supervising a team of mechanical design engineers.
• Familiarity with aviation regulatory standards (CAA Part 21, CS27/CS29) and certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for work packages, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and EBoMs.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and apprentices.
• Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory and certification requirements.
• Manage design changes to support manufacturing and certification.
• Coordinate design reviews and ensure alignment with product strategy.

Bachelor-level degree in mechanical/aerospace/structural engineering

Alternative: HNC/HND or apprenticeship with extensive experience
