Job summary

Caudwell Marine Limited in Coventry seeks a Senior Mechanical Design & EDS Engineer to own the mechanical design, packaging and integration of electrical distribution systems from concept to production release.

You’ll combine strong mechanical design, CAD and EDS routing experience with collaboration across Mechanical, Electrical and Systems Engineering to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions for demanding marine propulsion applications.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified or equivalent engineering experience.
• Experience in mechanical design within a multidisciplinary product development environment.
• Experience with EDS, wiring harness or controls hardware integration.
• Knowledge of harness routing principles including retention, bend radius and strain relief.
• Experience with DFMEA, risk assessment and structured problem solving.
• Proven ability to work across Mechanical, Electrical, EDS, Controls and Systems Engineering.
• Experience in marine/propulsion domains is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of EDS and controls integration work packages from concept through verification and production release.
• Develop mechanical concepts, 3D CAD, EDS routing, assemblies and production-intent drawings.
• Develop packaging solutions for harnesses, cables, connectors, sensors, actuators and control modules.
• Define mounting, clipping, retention, strain-relief and protection strategies for environments with vibration and exposure.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, EDS, Controls and Systems Engineering to manage interfaces and risks.
• Lead or support design and packaging reviews, DFMEA and risk assessment.
• Support prototype and production builds, supplier engagement and issue investigations.
• Ensure CAD, routing, drawings, BOMs and data are accurate and release-ready.
