Job summary

Marine Resources Limited in Wimborne, Dorset, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead complex product development from concept to launch in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will own design reviews, mentor engineers, apply DFMA and FMEA, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and commercial teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions on-site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years' experience in a mechanical design role in manufacturing.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software (Inventor/AutoCAD).
• Proven track record delivering products from concept through to manufacture.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes incl. metalwork/composites/assemblies.
• Experience applying FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement techniques.
• Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience supervising or leading engineering staff.
• Excellent cross-departmental communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of new products from concept to production release.
• Create and review 3D models, drawings, and documentation.
• Ensure on-time, within-budget delivery to specification.
• Mentor engineers and technicians and promote best practices.
• Drive DFMA to improve efficiency and production performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement and commercial teams.
• Manage engineering data and BOMs in ERP/CAD systems.
• Lead design reviews, testing, and validation activities.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives.
