Job summary

Herring's Green is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design, prototyping and design proving for high-integrity components and complex mechanisms. The role requires on-site work in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, and DV clearance, with collaboration across Design Authorities to ensure compliance with standards and safety legislation.

Qualifications

• Experience designing mechanical sub-systems and components.
• Experience designing and specifying electrical interfaces for sub-systems and components.
• Knowledge of materials, treatments and finishing for Defence, Aerospace and Space products.
• Ability to perform basic structural and kinematic calculations.
• Proven track record of design for harsh environments.
• Impeccable attention to design detail and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Use requirements specifications and a design brief to develop robust design solutions.
• Use CREO Parametric CAD to produce concept and detail designs.
• Produce supporting calculations and analysis to justify design decisions.
• Collaborate with SMEs, Users and Design Authorities on concept design solutions.
• Develop sub-system design solutions with a team of Design Engineers.
• Coordinate with CAD engineers for drawings and data packs.
• Create and present Design Review data packs to senior staff.
