Job summary

Jonathan Lee is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Hereford. You will work on UAV interceptor components and assemblies, developing mechanical schemes and detailed designs.

A hands-on engineer will size, analyse and optimise system elements using SolidWorks and CAE tools, supporting prototype builds. The role requires a BSc/BEng in Engineering and proven experience in aerospace/defence sectors, with a strong CAD modelling background and DFM/DFMEA knowledge.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven mechanical design experience within aerospace/defence/motorsport/automotive industries.
• Proficient in modelling parts & assemblies in CAD.
• Experience in developing mechanical systems from concept to reality.
• DFM and DFMEA knowledge would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of UAV components and interceptor parts and assemblies.
• Carry out concept development for mechanical systems.
• Use hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools and CAE tools to size, analyse and optimise system elements.
• Carry out concept design of mechanical systems using SolidWorks.
• Support in-house prototype build.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Senior Mechanical Design Engineers are required to join an engineering team who are working on the design and development of UAV/drone interceptors. The company design and develop their products in the UK.

With a growing order book, they are seeking to grow their engineering team and require Mechanical Design Engineers to join their team. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work with an engineering team to develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of interceptor parts and assemblies.

The Senior Mechanical Design Detailing Engineer will use SolidWorks to produce & detail component and assembly models and the associated drawings. A hands-on approach and can-do attitude are essential, as is the ability to work independently within a small engineering team

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - you will be required to;

• Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of UAV components and assemblies and interceptor launch mechanism.
• Carrying out concept development for mechanical systems.
• Using hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools and CAE tools to size,analyse and optimise system elements.
• Carry out concept design of mechanical systems using SolidWorks
• Support in-house proto@type build.

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - you will have;

• BSc/BEng in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Proven mechanical design experience within the aerospace/defence/motorsport/automotive industry
• Proficient in modelling parts & assemblies in CAD
• Proficient in carrying out engineering calculations and the use of modelling and simulations software to support their design work.
• Experience in developing mechanical systems from concept to reality
• Proven background in DFM and ideally DFMEA
• Knowledge of pneumatics would be beneficial though not essential
