Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting a Lead/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer near Leicester for bespoke automation and robotic systems. You will design and oversee projects from order acceptance to handover, using 3D CAD, coordinating with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery. You will ensure designs are design-for-assembly, robust and meet safety and budget targets.

Qualifications

• Experience leading mechanical design of bespoke automation and robotic systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects to time and budget.
• Strong knowledge of design for assembly, robust operation and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and detailing of multiple SP machines using 3D CAD.
• Coordinate design reviews to ensure requirements, assembly efficiency and cost targets are met.
• Produce BOMs and liaise with external suppliers to source cost‑effective materials.
• Support electrical design processes by clear communication through the project duration.
• Visit customer sites to gather measurements and translate requirements into drawings and plans.
