Job summary

Our client in Huddersfield is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role, 4 days per week. You will lead detail design activities for aerospace & defence systems and deliver robust CAD drawings, BOMs, and documentation.

Requirements include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, strong hand calculations, and proficiency in Solid Edge with GD&T; experience with ANSYS Workbench is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related field.
• Strong hand calculations experience.
• Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies for heavy industry.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and GD&T.
• Knowledge of FEA/ANSYS Workbench.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed design activities for manufacture.
• Perform hand calculations and preliminary sizing.
• Create 3D/2D CAD models and component drawings.
• Produce BOMs, engineering change control and documentation.
• Generate manufacturing drawings with DFx principles.
• Assess non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions with teams.
