Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design bespoke lifting equipment for heavy engineering applications. You will take projects from concept through to detailed manufacturing drawings and collaborate with sales and production to ensure technical requirements are met.

The role involves performing calculations, Excel analyses, and FEA, providing technical support during production, testing, installation and commissioning, and producing quality and maintenance documentation.

Qualifications

• HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Experience in designing special-purpose machinery or lifting equipment.
• Proficient CAD skills with AutoCAD, Inventor or Vault.
• Good understanding of taking products from concept to manufacture.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke lifting equipment from concept to detailed drawings.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer You Will

• Design bespoke lifting equipment, taking projects from concept to detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to ensure technical requirements are met.
• Perform calculations, Excel, and FEA to verify designs and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical support during production, testing, installation, and commissioning stages.
• Produce statutory documents, quality records, and operation and maintenance instructions.
• Manage multiple projects at various stages of development while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The Mechanical Design Engineer Will Have

• A minimum of an HND in Mechanical Engineering, with a BSc preferred.
• Proven experience in designing special:purpose machinery, fabricated products/systems, structures, welded products and/or lifting equipment being advantageous but someone with good mechanical design capabilities would be considered.
• Proficiency in CAD being able to use AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, and Microsoft Office applications for design activities although other systems will be considered.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design applications being able to take products from concept through to manufacture.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and within a team.
