Job summary

White Label Recruitment Ltd is supporting a well-established engineering business in seeking a Design Engineer to deliver bespoke mechanical designs from concept to manufacture and installation.

You will work closely with production and installation teams, run 3D designs in SolidWorks, and produce 2D layouts in AutoCAD, with site surveys every 2–3 months. The role demands around 4+ years in lifting and handling or SP machinery and a hands-on engineering background.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical design experience in lifting and handling or SP machinery.
• Strong SolidWorks experience; Inventor or Solid Edge also considered.
• Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
• Full UK driving licence and site surveys when required.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke automation machinery, conveyors, lifting equipment, and crane systems.
• Produce detailed 3D designs using SolidWorks.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering business specialising in bespoke automation machinery, conveyors, lifting and handling equipment, crane systems and material manipulation solutions.

Working as part of design team, you'll play a key role in delivering bespoke mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture and installation. This is a hands-on engineering position where you'll work closely with production and installation teams to ensure practical, manufacturable solutions are delivered to customers.

This role would suit an engineer with around four or more years' experience in lifting and handling or special purpose machinery who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive engineering environment.

The Role

• Designing bespoke automation machinery, conveyors, lifting and handling equipment and crane systems.
• Producing detailed 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks.
• Creating 2D layouts, site drawings and cut profiles using AutoCAD.
• Working closely with production and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
• Conducting site surveys as part of project delivery (typically every 2-3 months).
• Supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation.
• Collaborating with both office-based and remote members of the design team.

What We're Looking For

• Around 4+ years' experience within lifting and handling equipment, special purpose machinery or similar mechanical engineering sectors.
• A strong hands-on mechanical engineering background.
• Experience designing bespoke mechanical equipment.
• Strong SolidWorks experience (Solid Edge or Inventor experience will also be considered).
• AutoCAD experience producing 2D layouts and manufacturing drawings.
• An HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to attend customer sites for surveys when required.
