ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

TERM- Permanent

My client designs and manufactures specialist equipment for process industries. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong leadership skills to join their team in Berkshire on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Design / Mechanical Engineering position
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Strong leadership skills and an interest in management
• Knowledge of heat / thermal processes would be beneficial
• Experience in a process industry, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, HVAC, or similar is preferred
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.
• Excellent practical skills including hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing, prototyping
• Knowledge of various materials – sheet metal, injection moulded plastics, etc.
• Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small multidisciplinary team

The role involves:

• Collaborating within a small team with one direct report
• Using CAD (Inventor) for concept design and technical drawings
• Providing technical guidance and support
• Conducting research, hand calculations, FEA, testing, and prototyping
• Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
• Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
• Communicating with clients and developing solutions based on design specifications
• Coordinating with different departments to ensure project delivery
• Maintaining technical drawings and documentation
