Recruitment Consultant | Specialist in Aerospace and Defence

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to join a leading European defence company to contribute across all stages of the Product Life Cycle.

This role performs the duties of developing mechanical solutions for complex weapons and weapon systems and reports to the senior engineering leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design work packages while working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.

• Develop robust mechanical solutions through all stages of the Product Life Cycle, including concept, design, qualification, production, and support.

• Apply best practice design techniques such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM to ensure high-quality outputs.

• Liaise with suppliers and foster strong internal and external partnerships.

• Influence and negotiate across business areas and adapt communication to suit diverse stakeholders.

• Manage conflicting priorities while maintaining a professional and calm approach.

• Operate 3D CAD/CAE tools effectively (training provided if necessary).

• Undertake occasional travel within the UK and Europe as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• A Degree, HND or HNC with significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development.

• A strong track record of leading mechanical design activities in cross-functional teams.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Awareness of structural, thermal and dynamic analysis (advantageous).

• A proactive and flexible mindset, with the ability to set and meet priorities.

• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt communication styles accordingly.
