Senior Mechanical Designer - Preston, Lancashire

Location: Preston, Lancashire + Hybrid Working Arrangement

Role Type: Full time / Permanent / 37 hours per week

The role

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will provide a point of contact with professional engineering colleagues and various stakeholders for discipline-related issues during the design lifecycle, contribute to design reviews, and ensure coordination and functionality of the design.

Day-to-day, you'll allocate discipline tasks to an allocated team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter-discipline coordination in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Promote effective cooperation across Design and other functional teams.

Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid business development, resolve technical and delivery issues, and ensure the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.

Advise and assist in selecting the correct methods and tools for tasks, provide technical assistance to the team of Designers, and contribute to the preparation/production of drawings in support of basic, detail, and production design in line with recognised ISO standards, meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.

Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Designer

• Experience in a detailed design environment.
• Good knowledge of CAD tools.
• Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
• Incorporated Engineer status.
• Demonstrable experience in technical leading of a multi-disciplined design team.

Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Designer

• HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification.
• ICF (Integrated Competency Framework) to be demonstrated or being worked towards.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
