Job summary

Sapien is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in the United Kingdom to lead conceptual and bespoke redesigns within the design and manufacturing function. You will drive full lifecycle design, compile parts lists, and maintain drawing records, managing multiple projects concurrently across the UK and overseas.

A Mechanical Engineering degree and 7+ years of machinery design experience are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level Mechanical Engineering degree (BEng or Meng) required.
• 7+ years of full lifecycle design experience preferred.
• Experience in machinery design (conveyors, bearings, mechanisms) desired.
• Valid UK driving licence (manual or automatic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual and bespoke redesigns lead the engineering projects.
• Compile parts lists and maintain drawing records per technical office procedures.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and support design on larger group projects.
• Occasional site visits with customers across the UK and overseas.
• Liaise with suppliers.

Education

Mechanical Engineering Degree (BEng or Meng)

The role of Senior Design Engineer is a crucial part of the engineering function; this opening has a fair amount of scope due to their being several areas within the business that could benefit from an experienced Design Engineer joining the team.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for both conceptual and bespoke re-designs
• Compiling parts lists and maintaining drawing records, following technical office procedures
• Handling several projects simultaneously and supporting the design function on larger group projects
• Occasional site visits with customers both new and old across the UK and overseas
• Liaising with suppliers

Skill Required

• Mechanical Engineering Degree (BEng or Meng)
• Full product life cycle design experience (ideally over 7 years in industry)
• Industry experience within machinery design (conveyors, bearing, mechanisms etc)
• Full UK Manual or Automatic Licence
