Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Senior Mechanical CAD Technician to join our engineering team in the Northern Region. Based in a suitable location with hybrid working, you will lead mechanical design production, 3D modelling, and BIM coordination across major water and wastewater projects in the UK.

You will mentor junior CAD staff, ensure high-quality drawings, contribute to digital delivery practices, and coordinate with Civil, Electrical, ICA and Process disciplines to deliver safe, buildable

Qualifications

• Significant experience in multidisciplinary engineering design environments.
• Strong Mechanical CAD background in water, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
• Advanced 2D drafting skills with industry-standard CAD software.
• Strong 3D modelling capability and model-based design understanding.
• Proven experience using Revit and associated 3D design applications.
• Experience with Bentley ProjectWise or similar document management.

Responsibilities

• Lead production, coordination and QA of mechanical drawings and 3D models.
• Manage CAD workloads to meet programme, budget and quality.
• Act as Digital Delivery Champion, promoting BIM and digital workflows.
• Coordinate drawing production by offshore/remote resources.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM, specs and procedures.
• Coordinate outputs with Civil, Electrical, ICA and Process disciplines.
• Resolve technical queries and design coordination issues.
• Produce and review mechanical layouts, piping, equipment and drawings.
• Maintain drawing standards and document control.
• Collaborate with construction and supply chain to improve buildability.
• Support BIM delivery and model coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
• Promote safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior CAD technicians and designers.
