Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust seeking a Matron to lead nursing across Urology and Breast surgery services. The post provides clinical, operational and professional leadership for nursing standards, workforce, governance and patient experience across inpatient and outpatient care.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams on patient pathways, elective capacity, patient flow and continuous improvement in resource use, with a strong emphasis on leadership and transformation across services.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse, NMC registered.
• Degree level qualification as a minimum.
• Significant senior nursing leadership experience at band 8a level.
• Workforce planning, recruitment and staff management experience.
• Managing clinical governance, risk, incidents and complaints.
• Financial management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing leadership and accountability for safe, effective, high-quality patient care.
• Lead and manage nursing and support staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, retention, appraisal and development.
• Maintain clinical governance through management of risk, incidents, complaints, audits and quality improvement.
• Monitor and improve service performance and compliance with Trust policy, national standards and regulation.
• Promote patient experience by championing patient-centred care and responding to feedback.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams on service development, operational efficiency and organisational objectives.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Support delivery and expansion of acute and planned patient pathways, patient flow and elective capacity.
• Ensure effective use of resources and contribute to service transformation programmes.
