Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager (Midwifery) at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The role is a 6-month fixed-term contract for 12 hours per week, supporting ward leadership and safe staffing in a busy maternity environment.

Qualifications

• Active NMC registration as a Midwife
• UK recognised Degree in Midwifery Practice
• Ability to support, motivate and develop colleagues
• Effective communication and multidisciplinary working
• Ability to prioritise and coordinate care in a busy maternity environment
• Commitment to quality improvement, learning and service development
• Confidence to make appropriate decisions and provide effective leadership in challenging situations
• Current experience and evidence of working as a Band 6 midwife or above

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based women-centred midwifery care and be accountable for the overall provision of excellent care
• Hold current NMC registration as a Midwife and work within the NMC Code of Professional Standards
• Be a competent midwife, working flexibly within the Midwifery Service and as part of a multidisciplinary team
