Job summary

Gloucestershire Royal Hospital is seeking a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to join the maternity team on a 12-hour week, six-month fixed-term basis. The role focuses on leadership, staffing, and clinical governance to deliver safe, personalised midwifery care.

You will work with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care, mentor colleagues, and drive service development. An NHS pension and flexible working arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Active NMC registration as a Midwife.
• UK recognised Degree in Midwifery Practice.
• Experience as a Band 6 midwife or above.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, women-centred midwifery care on the ward.
• Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary team under the Ward Manager.
• Promote safe staffing, quality improvement, and service development.
• Act as a positive role model and develop colleagues.
