Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Technical Principal/Technical Director in Materials Engineering for the Special Services team based in the UK. The role focuses on leading the materials technology workstream across major civil and infrastructure projects, including high-profile UK and international schemes.

You will hold a Chartered status with a relevant institution and have demonstrable leadership in materials selection, testing, and specification.

Qualifications

• Qualified chartered engineer (ICE, IStructE, IMMM, ICT) with active involvement in the profession.
• Experience in construction materials technology for civil projects.
• Strong client-relations and project-bid leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the materials engineering workstream in the Special Services team.
• Provide technical direction and ensure high standards and QA in deliverables.
• Develop proposals/bids, win work, and deliver technically challenging projects.
• Mentor and develop colleagues and recruit where needed.
• Create technical reports and papers to publicise capabilities.

Bachelor's/Master/PhD in Materials Civil or Structural Engineering
