Job summary

Allianz Commercial in London is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Marine Liability to lead profitability and growth for key accounts. You will own significant client relationships, negotiate terms with brokers, and provide technical guidance across the Marine Liability portfolio.

The role requires deep expertise in international and local Marine Liability markets, strong governance discipline, and a collaborative leadership style to mentor colleagues and shape regional underwriting strategy.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience as an Underwriter, Broker or in a Marine Liability role.
• CII qualification or working towards it.
• Experience underwriting profitable Marine Liability for large corporate international insurance.
• Established relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level.
• Specialised understanding of international and local Marine Liability markets.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet targets; negotiate participation, pricing and terms with brokers.
• Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation and understand catastrophe modelling.
• Specialized technical lead for at least one sub-LoB and manage complex referrals.
• Underwrite in line with governance frameworks; ensure contract certainty at inception and use of pricing tools.
• Ensure accurate policy documentation and file maintenance for each risk and transaction.
• Contribute to development and execution of regional underwriting strategy; coach less experienced staff.
• Support acquisition and retention of large clients; liaise with MMC on market initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong broker/client relationships across markets.
• Develop and maintain relationships with risk managers and other stakeholders.
