Job summary

Allianz Commercial in London is seeking a Senior Underwriter for Marine Liability. You will own significant accounts, negotiate terms with brokers, and drive profitability while mentoring colleagues within a high‑caliber marine underwriting team.

You will lead in-depth technical underwriting, contribute to regional strategy, and strengthen broker relationships, with a hybrid working model and global market exposure.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience as an Underwriter, Broker or equivalent in Marine Liability.
• Ideally CII qualified or working towards it.
• Experience underwriting profitable Marine Liability business for large corporate international insurance.
• Strong client and broker relationships within the market.
• Specialised understanding of international and local Marine Liability markets and competition.
• Ability to leverage data/analytics to improve efficiency and decision-making.
• Good grasp of the legal/regulatory framework and contract wordings.
• Experience applying AI/ML to improve processes is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet profitability and growth targets, negotiating participation, pricing and terms with brokers.
• Underwrite and assess catastrophe accumulation and International Insurance Programs for relevant lines of business.
• Provide leadership and coaching to less experienced staff and manage complex referrals.
