Job summary

Canopius in London is seeking an experienced Marine Liabilities Underwriter to join our Marine team. You will apply disciplined risk selection, pricing expertise and broker/client engagement to execute underwriting strategy and drive profitable growth.

The role involves collaboration with actuarial, claims and reinsurance teams, maintaining strong market relationships, and staying ahead of regulatory changes to support Canopius' marine platform.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in marine liability insurance, ideally within the Lloyd's or London Market.
• Strong capability in risk assessment, pricing, and policy structuring.
• Established broker relationships and credible market presence.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to interpret data and portfolio performance metrics.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Marine Underwriting in executing the Marine Liabilities underwriting strategy.
• Underwrite new and renewal marine liability risks within authority.
• Drive profitable growth through portfolio management and pricing discipline.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims and reinsurance teams to inform decisions.
• Maintain broker and client relationships to access business.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and underwriting governance.
