Job summary

Careers On The Thames seeks a Marine Engineering Superintendent to lead maintenance, refurbishments and regulatory compliance for the PLA fleet and plant. You will supervise engineers, define refit specs, and coordinate shipyard tenders while ensuring safety and 24-hour vessel availability.

Based at Denton Wharf, Gravesend, you will deputise for the Head of Marine Engineering and drive cost-effective, quality outcomes within financial constraints.

Qualifications

• Professional Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent degree in electro/mechanical engineering.
• Experience providing engineering services and project management in marine industry at senior level.
• Knowledge of British Standards, MCA, IMO and Classification Society rules.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate planned maintenance and defect rectification for PLA fleet and machinery.
• Investigate defects, determine root causes, and implement cost-effective solutions.
• Develop refit specifications and coordinate shipyard tenders, contracts and costs.
• Manage vessel refit projects and secure MCA changes as required.
• Organise statutory examinations and testing for vessels and lifting gear.
