Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Peterlee is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, validating and implementing complex processing for Articulated Truck manufacturing.

You will drive capital projects, expand automation, and apply advanced manufacturing to improve operations. The role involves collaboration with product design, leading readiness activities for new launches, and delivering improvements across safety, quality, and productivity on site

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Engineering Specialists.
• Create a high-performing, customer-focused culture that values safety, quality, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Establish team objectives and development plans aligned with business goals.
• Support production teams in resolving complex manufacturing issues and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop business cases and capital expenditure proposals for manufacturing investments.
• Manage capital projects from concept through implementation while ensuring delivery within budget and schedule.
• Partner with Product Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products and design changes.
• Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new product launches and major product updates, including coordinating process validation, pilot builds, and production trials.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement manufacturing technologies that enhance operational performance and business competitiveness.
• Support digital transformation strategies through adoption of innovative production methods and technologies.
• Benchmark industry best practices and assess emerging technologies for future application.
