Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Peterlee is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead electrical installation projects with a strong mechanical focus.

You will ensure robust routing, packaging, and integration across complex vehicle platforms from concept through production. The role requires experience in vehicle systems integration and collaboration with mechanical and electrical teams, delivering design decisions from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related accredited discipline.
• Experience with heavy equipment or mining applications is preferred.
• Hands-on vehicle systems integration including routing, packaging, structures, and installation design.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects from concept through production in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and integration of electrical systems within complex vehicle platforms.
• Design components, brackets, harness routing paths, enclosures, and installation schemes balancing electrical and mechanical durability.
• Own cost, quality, validation and schedule for assigned projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and lifecycle efficiency.
• Partner with manufacturing teams to address assembly feasibility and tolerance stack-up.
