Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the energy portfolio from Grimsby to Wallpole. The role demands strong commercial leadership, stakeholder liaison, and a track record of delivering cost control on large EPC projects.

You will drive a commercial strategy, mentor APC candidates and maximise cash flow across projects while ensuring risk is managed and value is optimised.

Qualifications

• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent preferred.
• Registered with RICS / ICES.
• Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Confident, informed decision making and ability to communicate situation reports to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the project and liaise with stakeholders.
• Assist in building a team, establish objectives for direct reports, and monitor performance.
• Collate, analyse & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts, implement actions.
• Assist with development and training of Commercial Practitioners including mentoring for APC.
• Assist in cash flow management, WIP control and improvement plans for projects.
• Identify and advise on PI and insurance related issues; support tender activity.
• Ensure optimum performance of the commercial team and monitor costs monthly.
• Ensure outturn costs are monitored through detailed forecasts.
