Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to lead a management accounting team and provide expert financial guidance across Acute Services. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting and robust financial reporting to support strategic decisions and patient care.

You will lead a high-performing team, influence senior stakeholders and drive financial excellence within one of the UK’s largest NHS organisations. Experience in the public sector is essential.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Extensive knowledge of financial and management accounting practices, procedures and principles.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial information.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting and resource planning.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Understanding of NHS/public sector planning, targets and service change.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the management accounting team to deliver high-quality financial service.
• Provide timely, accurate financial information to support decision-making and budgeting.
• Develop budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes.
• Support budget holders in cost improvement and financial pressures.
• Offer expert financial advice on strategic change and service development.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.
• Build relationships with managers and stakeholders to drive performance.
