Job summary

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Radiographer to undertake mammographic breast imaging for screening and symptomatic services.

The post requires an HCPC registered radiographer with a degree in radiography and a certificate in mammographic practice. Postgraduate breast imaging qualification is desirable. The role includes some management responsibilities and work across the Breast Centre and mobile units in Wiltshire.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
• Certificate in Mammographic practice is essential
• Degree in Radiography or equivalent radiographic qualification
• Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in breast image interpretation or working towards it
• Knowledge of the Breast Screening programme and Breast imaging
• Experience with distressed or anxious patients
• In-depth experience of breast imaging
• Evidence of taking on senior grade responsibilities and responding well in high pressure situations

Responsibilities

• To independently assess each patient and perform specialist mammography in line with service standards.
• Lead or support in clinics, ensuring delivery of routine and specialist mammographic examinations.
• Assist Radiologist with Ultrasound and interventional procedures, including image-guided biopsies.
• Manage staff leave and participate in governance meetings as required.
• deputise for senior staff when needed to maintain service continuity.
• Ensure timely reporting of equipment issues and incident reporting via Datix.
