Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust seeks a senior radiographer specialising in breast imaging to deliver a high-quality mammography service across the Trust and mobile screening units. You will supervise staff, ensure patient safety and lead on QA and education in line with NICE guidelines.

You will support the breast unit senior team, coordinate staffing, and develop the service to improve patient care while maintaining compassionate care for anxious patients.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Radiography or Diploma of the College of Radiographers.
• HCPC Registration in the UK.
• Certificate of Competence in mammography / Postgraduate Certificate in Mammographic Practice.
• Minimum 5 year's senior mammography experience.
• Extensive experience in radiographic techniques for biopsies including stereotactic procedures.
• Well-developed knowledge of NHSBSP, Cancer Services and Breast Care."
• Experience in clinical audit.

Responsibilities

• Attend departmental staff and audit meetings and communicate clearly with patients and staff.
• Relate clinical information to patients and health professionals with empathy.
• Liaise with Radiologists, Radiographers, Nurses, and doctors to maximise resources.
• Supervise and coordinate the Mammography rooms in the absence of the superintendent.
• Provide education and CPD to junior staff and students.
• Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R and local rules and NICE guidelines.
• Lead imaging techniques for stereotactic biopsy and other breast imaging procedures.
• Ensure patient welfare and maintain high standards of radiation protection.
