Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical bias for our client in Willenhall, West Midlands. The role is hands-on and focuses on maintaining plant and equipment, leading the maintenance team, and coordinating contractors to ensure uptime.

You will diagnose electrical faults, carry out preventative maintenance, and drive improvements while working within a busy industrial environment.

Senior Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias

Location: Willenhall, West Midlands

Salary: £45,000–£50,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent

The Role

Contek Recruitment are representing their client, a well-established industrial business based in Willenhall, West Midlands, who are looking to appoint a Senior Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias.

This is a hands‑on senior engineering position within a busy industrial environment. You will be responsible for maintaining plant and equipment, responding to breakdowns, completing preventative maintenance and supporting the wider engineering team.

The role would suit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to take on additional responsibility, including leading maintenance activities, ensuring compliance and coordinating contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the site maintenance team.


• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance.


• Complete electrical diagnostics and fault‑finding.


• Respond to machinery breakdowns and minimise downtime.


• Take ownership of preventative maintenance systems.


• Ensure plant and equipment remains safe, reliable and compliant.


• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.


• Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met.


• Coordinate external contractors and specialist engineering companies.


• Work closely with production to maximise plant availability.


• Promote safe working practices throughout the site.


• Identify recurring faults and implement corrective actions.

Plant & Equipment

The site operates a varied range of heavy industrial equipment, including specialist processing machinery, centrifuge/spinning equipment, heating and drying systems, chemical treatment equipment, pumps, motors, fume extraction systems, cooling equipment and automated material handling systems.

The environment also includes overhead cranes, hoists, lifting equipment, electrical control panels and associated industrial infrastructure.

Previous experience working with overhead cranes or hoists would be advantageous.

• Proven electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic ability.


• Experience with planned preventative maintenance.


• Good knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.


• Experience working safely around heavy plant and machinery.


• Ability to lead and support other engineers.


• Strong communication and organisational skills.


• Proactive, conscientious and positive approach.

Qualifications

Candidates will ideally hold recognised electrical installation and testing qualifications.

However, candidates with relevant electrical maintenance qualifications and strong industrial experience will also be considered.

Working Hours

The position is based on a 40‑hour working week, Monday to Friday.

Working hours will fall within the site's operating window of 06:00 to 22:00, depending on operational requirements.

There will also be opportunities for overtime and out-of‑hours call‑out work, with additional payments available.
