Job summary

Andy File Associates Limited is recruiting on behalf of our client for a permanent M&E Senior Quantity Surveyor role based in Leeds or Sheffield. You will report to the Commercial Manager and oversee commercial management of M&E projects with values typically £2M–£15M, ensuring costs are controlled and financial performance is monitored.

The role requires an RICS-accredited degree and substantial experience in M&E contracting, with duties spanning subcontract procurement, valuations, variations

Qualifications

• A degree accredited by RICS in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• Extensive experience in Quantity Surveying with ability to manage project costs and commercial performance.
• Experience in M&E services or M&E construction is highly advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage financial risk.
• Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage the procurement, negotiation and appointment of subcontractors alongside Project Managers.
• Prepare and issue subcontract orders with appropriate contract documentation to protect the company’s position.
• Measure and value completed works, and prepare monthly payments and valuations of subcontract accounts.
• Work with Project Managers to ensure client payments are submitted accurately and on time.
• Monitor variations and changes to design or construction works, assessing their financial impact.
• Review subcontractor applications for payment and coordinate with Accounts for payments.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow, expenditure and monthly profit and loss, reporting variances.
• Attend project review meetings and provide commercial updates, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with main contractors, clients, M&E site managers, Project Managers and site engineers.
• Assist with contract documentation, budgets, bills of quantities, feasibility studies and financial reports.
• Support the Commercial Manager and estimating team with tenders, pricing and commercial assessments.
• Provide guidance on contractual and commercial matters, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Collaborate with internal departments to support business objectives and compliance.
